Three people were arrested after a man allegedly threw 103 grams of a white powdery substance during a brief foot chase Monday night.

A state police trooper was on patrol when he smelled marijuana and saw three people on the sidewalk along Dunlap Street at about 10 p.m.

Benjamin Harold Randolph, 34, of Steel Street in Republic fled the trooper and threw a large bag containing hard and soft white powder on the grass, according to court documents.

Police have not yet determined what the substance is.

Randolph was also allegedly found with seven grams of marijuana.

Randolph is charged with possession with intent to deliver, flight to avoid apprehension, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arraigned Tuesday morning before on-call Magisterial District Judge Richard Kasunic II, who set bail at $100,000 in the case. Randolph was released from Fayette County Prison after bail was posted on his behalf.

Kyle Irving Bass and Ramal Oliver Chisler, both 23 and of Uniontown, were found with Randolph and subsequently charged in the case.

Bass is charged with dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $7,500 bond.

Chisler is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
