John “Junie” “Skeezk” Miller Jr.
John Miller Jr., age 90, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 in Uniontown Hospital.
John Jr., AKA Junie and Skeezik, was born on March 16, 1927 in Lower Oliver 3, Pa., the son of John Miller Sr. and wife Susan (Sedlock) Miller.
Junie was preceded in death by his parents and by his twin siblings, Jake and Sally.
He is survived by his first wife, Audrey, the mother of his 11 children Mary Lou, June Ann, Sharon, Rebecca, Cindy, Susan, Judy, Polly, John, Patrick, Robin and Beth; 23 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and two great great grand children; a brother, Lonnie and a sister Betty He is also survived by his second wife of 44 years, Lucy, and two step children, Lynn and Timothy Moore.
Junie was a retired steel worker from USS’s Duquesne Steel Works.
He is a United States Army Veteran. He served in World War II in the 88th Infantry Division in Germany as SGT E-5 and was chosen as an Acting Platoon 2nd Lieutenant and wore a cloth arm band with a Gold Bar. Near the end of his tour in 1947 in Germany he was told if he re-enlisted that bar would be permanent. His answer was “I’m going home.”
Junie was an avid golfer with numerous golfing friends and was Fayette County Senior Champion golfer for 2010. He and his wife Lucy enjoyed many golf outings to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Friends will be received in the THOMAS M. DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, 136 North Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown Pa., on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at which time a Service will be held in the funeral home with Pastor Bryan Kelley officiating.
Interment will be private.
