Joseph Henry Embacher III, ‘JoJo’, 71, of York Run, Pa., passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017 after a valiant fight against cancer with his loving family by his side.

He was born June 1, 1946 at Mount Sterling, Pa., the son of Joseph Raymond Embacher II and Dorothy (Leshinsky) Embacher Grasso.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph and Dorothy; grandparents, Joseph and Hermina Embacher; sister, Rose Marie Embacher; and step-mother, Jane Embacher.

Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Joyce (Spear) Embacher; three loving children: Joseph W. Embacher IV and wife Becky of York Run, Pa., Theda Embacher of York Run, Pa., Tonya Embacher-Hixon of Smithfield, Pa.; five loving grandchildren Travis Embacher and wife Kristin, Liberty Embacher, Joseph A. Embacher V, Logan A. Embacher and Davannah Hixon; loving aunt, Hilda Karinshak; loving uncle, August Embacher and wife Bernice; and dear friend, Deborah J. Kondrla Wallace. He will also be missed by many loving family and friends

JoJo was a very special mentor and friend to many!

He was a graduate of Fairchance-Georges, Class of 1964; won the Golden Gloves Boxing Championship in 1964; served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War; retired from Frito-Lay after 30 years of service; coached Smithfield Little League, Teener League and the Legion League from 1978 to 1988; served as Past President of Smithfield Lions Club; a Charter Member of the Smithfield-Fairchance American Legion Post 278 where he proudly served as Commander since 2010; member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church in Fairchance.

The family will greet friends and family in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday, June 30, until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, 50 North Morgantown Street, Fairchance, Pa.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery Fairchance, Pa., with Military Rites accorded by the United States Army and the Carmichaels (Pa.) Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fayette Friends of Animals, Post Office Box 1282, Uniontown, PA 15401.
