Dr. Jesse Lewellen “Bud” Moser
Dr. Jesse ‘Bud’ Lewellen Moser, 94, of Masontown Pennsylvania passed on to be with the Lord on Monday, June 26 2017.
He was born December 9, 1922, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to the late Samuel and Jessie (Shaffer) Moser.
Jesse grew up in his hometown of Smithfield, Pa., and graduated from Smithfield High School in 1940.
He began his collegiate studies at the University of West Virginia and then graduated in 1945 from the dental school of the University of Pittsburgh having completed the normal four year curriculum in just three years.
Jesse proudly served his country in the United States Army reaching the rank of Captain and served as part of the occupation force in Europe directly following the end of World War II.
Upon his honorable discharge from the military in 1947, Jesse settled in Masontown where he operated his dental practice for 47 years.
In 1949, he wed his beloved wife, the late Norma Jean Miller, to whom he was married for 61 years until her passing in 2010.
In addition to his dental practice, Jesse further contributed toward advancements in dentistry through the Fayette County Dental Society, in which he served as President and Secretary, as well as the Western Pennsylvania Dental Society and the Odonatological Society of Western Pennsylvania. Jesse also was active in the community as a long-time member of the Masontown Rotary Club in which he served as President, as well as the American Legion and the Elks.
Early in life, Jesse was a member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church of Smithfield. He then became a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Masontown followed by attending the Bridge Baptist Church of Masontown later in life
He loved working in his garden and enjoyed fishing, hunting, walking and playing golf.
He was a hard worker who was dedicated to excellence and, still to this day, many of his former patients remark about the kind and professional care that they received from him.
He had a great sense of duty and demonstrated his deep love for his wife by taking excellent care of her for many years following a debilitating stroke that she suffered.
Jesse will be sadly missed and dearly remembered.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brother R. Edwin Moser, and his sister Ruth Wise.
He is survived by his two daughters, Nancy (Elliott) Metro of Littlestown, Pa., and Sandra (Robert) Salvi of Uniontown, Pa.; two sons, Wayne (Carol) Moser of Greensburg, Pa., and Scott (Paula) Moser of Matthews North Carolina six grandchildren, Ellen Metro, Emily Metro, Katharine (Brian) Lanktree, Stefanie (Jonathan) Zito, and Connor, Andrew, and Brycen Moser; and a great grandson, Harvey Zito.
Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 29, 2017 at the HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 515 North Main Street, Masontown Pennsylvania.
The Funeral Service with take place the following day, Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Haky Funeral Home in Masontown. Pastor Aaron Douthitt will officiate.
Interment will directly follow at Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery in Smithfield, Pennsylvania where Military Honors will be accorded by the George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103.
