A Monessen man Tuesday entered a guilty plea to possession with intent to deliver heroin in Westmoreland County Court.

Alan Roberts Jr., 23, was arrested by Monessen police in connection with a May 2 incident.

According to court documents, Roberts allegedly delivered heroin to a confidential informant.

Judge Christopher Feliciani told Roberts that if convicted at trial, he could have faced up to 10 years in prison on the charge of possession with intent to deliver, as well as up to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine for possessing a firearm after being previously convicted of a violent crime. Feliciani said sentencing guidelines also allow up to seven years imprisonment for using a cellphone in the commission of a crime.

Roberts entered a guilty plea to the charges against him in exchange for a sentence of 2½ to five years in prison to be served concurrently to a sentence received on similar charges filed in Washington County.
