Walter E. McMillen, Jr.
Walter E. McMillen, Jr., 98, of Pittsburgh, Pa. (formerly of Masontown, Pa.) passed away March 1, 2017 at VA Pittsburgh Health Care, Pittsburgh.
He was born in Masontown, Pa. on May 21, 1918, the son of the late Walter E. McMillen, Sr. and Barbara (Gunter) McMillen.
Walter was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army after serving during W.W.II.
As a civilian, he worked as a miner and later worked for U.S. Steel, Clairton Works.
He enjoyed searching for antiques with his wife Grace and listening to the radio.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Grace (Cramer) McMillen; brothers: Thomas and Harry; sisters: Marie and Ada.
Walter is survived by nieces: Terry (Don) Frederick of Columbus, Ohio; Marie Phillips of Florida; Barb (George) Kimble of North Ridgeville, Ohio and Phoebe (John) Scholl of North Ridgeville, Ohio and nephew, Frank (Daphne) Minnick of Georgia.
Family and friends will be received in the JOHN S MAYKUTH, JR. FUNERAL HOME, 7 River Avenue, Masontown, Pa., on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 1 to 2 p.m.
Funeral Service begins at 2 p.m. with Rev. Randy Byers officiating.
Military Rites accorded by the Masontown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584 and the American Legion Post 423.
