Hollis Alma (Nehls) O’Neil
Hollis Alma (Nehls) O’Neil, 99, a long-time resident of Point Marion, Pa., passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 in the Point Manor Personal Care Home.
Born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on June 8, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Fritz and Pauline (Wilson) Nehls.
She was a member of the former Trinity Methodist Church, and currently a member of the Point Marion United Methodist Church where she had been active in the Women’s Society, the Sylvia Baker Circle, and served on many committees of the church You could always find her in the kitchen with her ‘circle friends’.
Over the years, she was employed with her husband at O’Neil’s Garage, Department Manager at S.S. Kresge’s in Uniontown, Pa., and retired as Manager of the WVU Evansdale Campus Engineering Bookstore.
She was a fan of the WVU Mountaineers and the Pittsburgh Pirates, enjoyed playing cards with her Uniontown Card Club, and especially enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandchildren.
Deceased are her husband, Bruce O’Neil, whom she married on June 8, 1939 in the Trinity Methodist Church; sisters, Jackie, Phyllis, Lois, and Ruth; a brother, Fred; and a granddaughter, Maureen.
Left to cherish her memory are her three sons and their wives: Scott and Peggy O’Neil of Waynesburg, Pa., Terry and Mary Jo O’Neil and Shawn and Jodie O’Neil all of Point Marion, Pa.; six grandchildren, Bret O’Neil of Point Marion, Brandon O’Neil and fianceé Lyndi of San Angelo, Texas, Patrick and Richelle O’Neil of McKinney, Texas, Michael and Tierza O’Neil of Venetia, Pa., Kristen and Tom Adams of Kingwood, West Virginia, Brian O’Neil and fianceé Sara of Fairmont, West Virginia; five great-grandchildren: Josie O’Neil, Bailey O’Neil, Nathan Adams, Logan Adams, and Seamus O’Neil.
Friends will be received in RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, Pa., today 3 to 7 p.m. and on Monday from 10 until 11:00 a.m., hour of the Service. Pastor Beverly Roscoe will officiate.
Interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, Pa
