Charleroi Regional Police have arrested two men in connection with a gun reported stolen Sunday from a Charleroi residence.

William Curcio, 20, of 218 Rear Oakland Ave, Charleroi, is charged with theft, receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of an access device after he allegedly took his mother’s handgun and bank card. The bank card was used to purchased more than $155 worth of items at a Charleroi gas station, while the handgun was allegedly sold to another Charleroi man. Police questioned Curcio Sunday, and according to the affidavit filed with the charges, he admitted to the theft.

Upon further investigation and questioning Monday, police traced down the sale of the handgun to Robert Lee Majors, 47, who is a convicted felon and had been on parole at the time of the sale. Curcio allegedly sold the gun to Majors for $70.

Police obtained a search warrant for Majors’ apartment and kicked in the front door when no one answered, according to court papers. The gun and drug paraphernalia were found in the basement ductwork, police said. Majors was later taken into custody when he reported to his parole officer. Majors reportedly told police he didn’t know the gun was stolen and had purchased it so he could turn it around for a quick sale.

Majors is charged with possession of a firearm when prohibited, receiving stolen property and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and was jailed in lieu of $100,000 bond. He faces a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Larry Hopkins March 16.

Curcio is jailed in lieu of $10,000 bond, with a hearing set for March 23 before Hopkins.
