Alvin C. Sheetz, Jr.
Alvin C. Sheetz, Jr., 88, of Hellertown, formerly of Connellsville, Pa., died on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.
He was the son of the late Katherine (Hoffman) and Alvin C. Sheetz, Sr.
He was the loving husband of Joanne Mihulec Sheetz of Hellertown, Pa. and the late Carol Ann Sheetz of Connellsville.
Alvin was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Connellsville.
He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, and also the Naval Air Reserves.
He served as the Blue and Gold Officer for the U. S. Naval Academy for Western Pa.
Alvin received his B.S. degree from Gettysburg College, two master degrees from WVU and did his post graduate studies at Pitt.
He worked as the Director of Special Education for I.U. 1 and was the assistant superintendent for children with special needs for Fayette, Greene and Washington counties.
Alvin was a member of various social organizations; Rotary, Shrines and Military Officers Association.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 14 years, Joanne Mihulec Sheetz; sons: Clark, Eric and Brian; grandchildren: Janelle, Brandon, Joshua, Zachary, Rachel and step grandson, Marcus Mihulec; stepdaughter, Brenda Weierbach and stepson Michael Mihulec.
Alvin was preceded in death by a daughter Rebecca Sue Sheetz.
Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK, FUNERAL HOME, 418 N. Pittsburgh Street, Connelville, Pa. 15425 on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the hour of the funeral service at 4 p.m. with Pastor Kerri Clark officiating.
Private Interment will be Monday, March 13, 2017 at Bowerman Cemetery, St Paul Lutheran Church (Enterline) Halifax, Pa.
Memorial contribution may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Connellsville, PA or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
