Alvin C. Sheetz Jr.
Alvin C. Sheetz Jr., 88, of Hellertown, Pa., and formerly of Connellsville, Pa., died on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.
He was the son of the late Katherine (Hoffman) and Alvin C. Sheetz Sr.
He was the loving husband of Joanne (Mihulec) Sheetz of Hellertown and the late Carol Ann Sheetz of Connellsville.
Alvin was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Connellsville.
He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and also the Naval Air Reserves.
He served as the Blue and Gold Officer for the United States Naval Academy for Western Pennsylvania.
Alvin received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Gettysburg College, two Master degrees from WVU and did his post graduate studies at Pitt.
He worked as Director of Special Education for Intermediate Unit 1 and was the Assistant Superintendent for children with special needs for Fayette, Greene and Washington counties.
Alvin was a member of various social organizations: Rotary, Shriners, and Military Officers Association.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 14 years, Joanne (Mihulec) Sheetz; sons: Clark, Eric and Brian; grandchildren: Janelle, Brandon, Joshua, Zachary, Rachel; step grandson, Marcus Mihulec; stepdaughter, Brenda Weierbach; and stepson, Michael Mihulec
Alvin was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Sue Sheetz.
Family and friends were received Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 North Pittsburgh Street, Connellsville, PA 15425, Dennis N. Heath Jr., Supervisor.
Additional visitation will be held at the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME today from 2 p.m. until the hour of the Funeral Service at 4 p.m. with Pastor Kerri Clark officiating.
Private interment will be Monday, March 13, 2017 at Bowerman Cemetery, St. Paul Lutheran Church (Enterline), Halifax, Pa.
Memorial contribution may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Connellsville, Pa or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
