Elco couple faces charges related to stolen generator

An Elco couple is charged with receiving stolen property after a generator they took to a Belle Vernon pawn shop was reported stolen.

According to the affidavit, state police were called to Gem’s Quick Cash Pawn Shop in Belle Vernon on Feb. 21 after a man told an employee there that a generator they were selling had been stolen from him. Gene Trozzo gave the employee the serial number from his generator, which matched the generator that two people had brought into the store the day before. The couple, Nicole Ancarana, 22, and Terry Workman, 37, had been given $130 for the generator.

Police interviewed Ancarana and Workman, who said the did not steal the generator and claimed they owned it. Workman said he sometimes gave it to a man by the last name of Trozzo to use and that he and Trozzo had recently argued over money that Workman owed to Trozzo and said that he wasn’t going pay.

Workman and Ancarana face preliminary arraignments and preliminary hearings before Magisterial District Judge Charles Christner on April 24 at 10:30 a.m.
