Woman waives charges of tattooing a minor to court

By The 1 min read

A Monessen woman waived charges that she allegedly tattooed a 14-year-old girl to Westmoreland County Court on Friday and will appear before a judge in May to be admitted to a pretrial diversionary program.

Jessica Lee Sellers, 26, was charged with corruption of minors, tattooing a minor and body piercing a minor. Monessen police were called Jan. 9 by the child’s mother, who told them that sometime in August or September Sellers gave her daughter a tattoo without her permission.

She said neither Sellers nor her daughter had ever discussed the child getting a tattoo.

In addition to the tattoo, the mother said Sellers also gave her daughter multiple body piercings, also without her permission, even though she had told Sellers she did not want her to give her daughter any piercings.

The mother said that when she saw the girl’s visible piercings, she thought her daughter had done the piercing herself. The girl’s ears were gauged and her nose and bellybutton were pierced.

Court records indicate Sellers will appear before a judge to be admitted to the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program on May 10.
