Connellsville man charged with corruption of minors
Clyde Ellwood Brothers, 66, of 162 McCoy Hollow Road, Connellsville, was arrested on charges he exposed himself to a boy and threatened to harm the child’s family if he told anyone in the early 1990s.
State police charged Brothers with corruption of minors, indecent exposure and intimidation of witnesses or victims. He was arrested Friday and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty Jr. and committed to the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
A man who told police he is an acquaintance of Brothers from a church organization brought Brothers to the state police station in Uniontown in December, and Brothers told police he had to get something off his chest, police said in an affidavit.
He allegedly told police that he showed pornographic movies to multiple teenage boys and touched one of boy’s genitals, police said.
One of the alleged victims, who was 12 or 13 years old at the time, was contacted and reported that Brothers allegedly touched himself in front of him a few times in 1992-93, police said.
Brothers allegedly told the boy to touch himself and said he would watch to make sure the child did it correctly, police said.
During an out-of-state trip, the alleged victim said Brothers touched himself, police said. On the way home, Brothers allegedly threatened to harm the child’s family if he told anybody, police said. Brothers also allegedly threatened the victim after they returned home, police said.
