Donora man charged after allegedly breaking into Belle Vernon home
A Donora man is behind bars after he allegedly broke in to a home and refused to give officers the 5-month-old baby boy that was inside.
Cory Adam Rose, 26, allegedly forced his way into the Grant Street home in Belle Vernon on March 14 and refused to leave.
When police responded, the baby’s mother, Summer Baumgardner, told police Rose was inside with her baby.
Rose also had a knife, according to court paperwork filed in the case by Southwest Regional Police Officer Christina Good.
According to the affidavit, Rose told police, “I am not giving you my son. I am here to spend time with him. I am not putting my child down because you are going to put me in jail.”
Good wrote that the infant began to cry in distress as Rose squeezed tighter.
Several attempts were made to get Rose to safely surrender the baby, including administering upper body blows.
The baby was finally released to Baumgardner’s mother, who was also inside.
Good wrote in the report that Rose resisted arrest several times, and only complied when another officer approached with a taser.
Rose was charged with burglary, aggravated assault, interfering with child custody, unlawful restraint, making terroristic threats, simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, harassment and criminal trespass.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Richard Kasunic II and remains lodged in prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
