A 78 year-old Richeyville man died Sunday from injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle crash earlier this month involving a FACT bus, Pennsylvania State Police reported.

Joe Kudlac, 78, was driving a 2007 Kia Rio in the crash that occurred on May 12 along National Pike in Redstone Township.

According to state police, Kudlac was traveling east along Route 40 and slowed down for a turn in the roadway when he allegedly was hit from behind by the bus driven by James D. Harris, 58, of Brownsville.

Police said the impact caused Kudlac to cross over the center line and travel off the left side of the roadway before impacting a tree head on.

He was transported from the scene by Fayette EMS to Uniontown Hospital.

Police reported that Dolores M. Kudlac, 75, a passenger in Kudlac’s vehicle was also injured.

According to police, Harris was charged with following too closely.

Republic Fire Department and Fayette EMS responded to the accident.
