Pedestrian hit and killed by train in Charleroi
A Charleroi man walking along the train tracks near Fifth Street and Railroad Way in the borough was hit by a Norfolk Southern train at 5 p.m. Monday.
Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said James L. Carpenter, 45, was pronounced dead at Monongahela Valley Hospital an hour after the accident.
Charleroi Regional police and Norfolk Southern Railroad police are investigating. Warco said an autopsy is planned in the case.
