Carl Massini, 93, Carnegie, Pennsylvania died Monday morning, November 13, 2017 at Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Mount Lebanon.

He was born April 15, 1924 in Vesta 6, Pa., to the late Nicola and Olivia (DeCarolis) Massini.

He resided in Vesta 6 until five years ago when he and his wife Eleanor moved to Carnegie to be near their children.

Mr. Massini graduated from the Centerville High School in 1942.

A veteran, he served in the United States Army Air Force as a Sergeant with the 877th Air Engineering Squadron 459th Group for three years, with two overseas, during World War II.

Mr. Massini operated a beer distributor business for seven years before being injured and taking a civil service position with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. He retired with 34 years of state service on April 1, 1986.

He was active in music as an accordian and keyboard player for 70 years in local bands, including The Debonairs, The Fantastics, The Bobby Day Trio and others, as well as being a soloist.

Mr. Massini was a long-time member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47 in Uniontown, Pa., American Legion Post 705 in Centerville, Pa., The Sons of Italy Frank Ricco Lodge 731 in Brownsville, Pa., the Elks in Uniontown, Pa., the American Federation of Musicians Local 592, and also the Denbo-Vesta No. 6 Volunteer Fire Department.

He married Eleanor Sikora of Maxwell, Pa., on October 29, 1955 and they recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Eleanor; three children: Nick Massini (Cindy Traficante) of Mars, Pa., Annette Marodi (Alex) of Pittsburgh, Pa., Carl John Massini (Maria Iducovich) of McDonald, Pa.; six grandchildren: Nicolette Penska (Adam), Luke Marodi, Rachel Kittka (Ben), Hannah Iducovich, Anna Marodi and Leah Marodi; one great-grandson, Brayden Penska; two sisters: Inez Frund (Austin) of Florida and Elizabeth Haught of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two sisters, Ida Pedicino and Anita Massini, and a brother, John Massini.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 330 Third Avenue, Carnegie, Pa. Everyone is to meet at the Church.

Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, Pa., with Military Honors by the United States Army.
