A Dunbar man is in jail after he allegedly assaulted his grandfather and set a fire at his property.

Tyler James Michael Johnston, 19, allegedly poured gasoline outside his grandparents’ house Saturday night, lit a fire and fled the scene.

James Johnston called police earlier in the day saying his grandson shoved and hit him when he asked him to leave the house. When the elder Johnston said he would call police, his grandson allegedly said he would come back later that night and burn the house down, according to court documents.

The grandson allegedly returned at about 10:30 p.m. and set the fire.

He is charged with arson, terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief.

He is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
