George F. Powell
George F. Powell, 82, California, Pennsylvania died Monday, November 20, 2017.
He was born on Wednesday, November 21, 1934 in California, Pennsylvania son of Cabe Powell and Elizabeth (McGinnis) Powell.
For many years George, along with his wife, owned and operated Powell’s Auto Parts and Service in California, Pa.
He was a member of the California Young Men’s Club, California Athletic Club (CAC) of which he was a Founding Member, and the former American Legion JFK Post 377, California, Pa.
George was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy; and three brothers, Cabe Powell, Guy Powell and Todd McLaughlin.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Pamela Duricic and her husband Jeff, California, Pa.; sister, Sophie Hotz of California, Pa.; brothers: Bert Powell of California, Pa., and Gerald “Jerry” Powell of Newell, Pa.; and one granddaughter, Chelsey Duricic. Also surviving are his grand dogs: Otis and Remmy; a dear friend at Liberty Tower; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME, INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, Pa., today from 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday 3 to 8 p.m. and on Friday, November 24, until 11:00 a.m. when Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home with Rev. Candace Cook officiating.
Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
