Edward Metzgar Jr.
Edward “Ed” Metzgar Jr., 94, of Connellsville, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in Saint Anne Home, Greensburg, Pa.
He was born February 1, 1923 in Connellsville, Pa., son of the late Gladys P. (Huey) and Edward Metzgar Sr.
He was a United States Army World War II Veteran.
Ed retired from General Motors Fisher Body after 30 years of service in the Machine Repair Department.
His hobby was repairing Volkswagens.
Ed always looked forward to traveling to Canada with his family as well as traveling out West. He loved being in the outdoors, especially when fishing.
Ed is survived by his nieces, nephews, great nieces, greatnephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.
Ed was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his wife, Theresa (Rock) Metzgar; and a sister, Hattie Gerlach.
Friends will be received in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, 123 S. First Street, West Side, Connellsville Pa., (724.628.9033) today, October 2, from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m., the hour of the Service with Pastor Lee Maley officiating.
Interment will follow in Saint Rita’s Cemetery.
At graveside, Full Military Rites will be accorded by members of American Legion Posts 301 and 762 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 21.
Visitation was also held Sunday, October 1, from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
