Regina Ann Mayolo “Gina”

Regina Ann Mayolo, born December 25, 1957 in Morgantown, West Virginia, daughter of the late Peter L. Mayolo and Anita (Renze) Mayolo, passed away on October 12, 2017.

She is survived by her brother Peter J. Mayolo and Nancy his wife; nephew Jeffrey Novak and Shay his wife; niece Nicole Mayolo Kelley and Ryan her husband and their beloved son Wyatt; and many loving family and friends.

“Be ashamed to die until you have won a victory for humanity” by Horace Mann, was a cherished quote of Regina’s. She was an advocate in her personal and professional life, she lived to serve and help others in need however possible. She worked for the West Virginia Assistive Technology System where she strived to improve access to assistive technology for individuals with disabilities. She also served as the executive director for the Community Living Initiatives Corporation where she provided resources for seniors, their care givers, and families, so older adults can live comfortably in their community of choice.

Regina was a Certified Aging in Place Specialist and advocated resources to facilitate the Morgantown area meeting the needs of seniors. She also became a founding partner of the Fair Housing Action Network. In 2014, Gina and several friends created a nonprofit called Community Housing Action Partnership which brought community members together to develop safe, affordable housing that is attainable to all members of our community.

Regina was a longtime dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and had regularly traveled to Bradenton, Florida to watch Spring Training. She also loved the Pittsburgh Penguins and was an avid music enthusiast and traveler. Regina loved combining all of her passions at times and would catch a game or concert while traveling for business or leisure.

She will be greatly missed.

Everyone are invited to attend a Funeral Mass in her memory at SS. CYRIL AND METHODIUS CHURCH, 50 North Morgantown Street, Fairchance, Pa., at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday October 21, 2017 under the direction of the Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home.
