Joseph J. Sustrik
Joseph J. Sustrik, 89 of Coal Center, PA passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in Mon Valley Hospital.
He was born March 20, 1928 in West Pike Run Twp. a son of the late Mike and Katie Durisek Sustrik Sr.
Joseph was a 1946 graduate of California High School.
Mr. Sustrik owned and operated Western Flour Co. in Charleroi from 1948 to 1998, and at the same time owned and operated B&P Motor Express for the majority of his career. He also worked on the family beef cattle farm his entire life. Farming was his love and passion.
He was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Charleroi and a member of Pennsylvania Farmers Association for many years.
Mr. Sustrik also enjoyed hunting.
On October 14, 1950 he married Susan Gaisbacher Sustrik who survives. Together they celebrated 67 years of marriage.
Also surviving is a daughter Susan J. Marcus (Neil) of Coal Center, PA; a grandson, Jeffrey DeFranc of Erie, PA and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Sustrik was the last of his immediate family.
Deceased in addition to his parents is a brother Michael Sustrik.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA where funeral services will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11 AM with Rev. David Jones officiating. Entombment will follow in the LaFayette Memorial Park Brier Hill, PA. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contribution be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church 327 Washington Ave. Charleroi, PA 15022.
