Road work on Route 906 southbound in Monessen to start Thursday

By Mike Tony mtony@heraldstandard.Com 1 min read

Motorists in the Monessen area can expect a road closure to crop up later this week that is slated to last approximately six weeks.

Route 906 southbound between Tyrol Boulevard (Route 3003) and Bridge Street (Route 3006) in Monessen, Westmoreland County, will be closed to allow crews to remove existing road to subgrade and place stone and asphalt to finish grade and provide a level base for the road.

Work will begin on Thursday, with an expected completion date of Fri., Dec. 15, weather permitting.

“It’s one of those projects that you have to do it,” said Valerie Petersen, spokesperson for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12.

PennDOT has a 24-hour toll free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern. This number can also be used to report locations of dead deer on state highways. The number is 1-800-FIX ROAD (1-800-349-7623).
