Agnes Lisauckis Monteith
Agnes “Aggie” (Lisauckis) Monteith, age 98, long time resident of Smithfield, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in Warren, Ohio with her loving family by her side.
She was born on Wednesday, January 29, 1919 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of Paul Lisauckis and Anna (Rodgers) Lisauckis.
Agnes was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church and a former member of the John C. Myers Sunday School Class and served as a Secretary-Treasurer for her class for many years.
She also was a Charter Member of the Smithfield Firemen’s Ladies Auxiliary, served for over 60 years to Smithfield American Auxiliary 278, member of the Friday Night Card Club, and wrote the Smithfield News Column for the Point Marion News for 20 years, and was 36-year member of the Smithfield Colonials Senior Citizens, which was like a second family to her.
Surviving are two sons: Danielle Monteith of Brownmills, New Jersey and Robert Monteith and wife Joyce of Uniontown, Pa.; daughters: Leona Christenberry of Mio, Michigan and Linda Greathouse, caregiver of Warren, Ohio; a brother, James Lisauckis of Ligonier, Pa.; 7 grand children; 11 great grand children; 3 great great grandchildren; special friends, Joe and Ann Hetz of Smithfield, Pa.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Thomas, to whom she was married 68 1/2 years; daughter, Sally Dawson; brothers, Anthony, Frank, and infant Donald; sisters, Elizabeth Iannone and Verna Young.
Agnes loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens, also preserving vegetables from her garden. She was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed watching their games.
The family will receive friends in the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME of SMITHFIELD, Pa., on Monday, September 18, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m and Tuesday until 11:00 a.m. when Services will be conducted with Rev. Darrell Edgar officiating.
Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
