Vernon D. Haney
Vernon D. Haney, 87, of Greensboro (Mapletown), Pa., died unexpectedly at 8:55 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa.
He was born June 3, 1930 in Mapletown, Pa., son of the late Clarence Colvin and Lucy Leona (Tanner) Haney.
Mr. Haney was a lifelong resident of Greene County and was a Methodist.
He served with the United States Army in Korea and worked for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for over 30 years as a Truck Driver, Equipment Operator and lastly retiring are a Foreman in the early 1990’s.
Mr. Haney enjoyed music and was a self- taught musician. He played the piano, guitar, banjo, accordion and trombone.
Mr. Haney had a great sense of humor and especially enjoyed the company of his family.
On February 13, 1955, he married Mary Lou Lint, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons: Clarence “Rusty” Haney (Jonea) of Dilliner Pa., Kevin L. Haney (Julie) of Hillsboro, Ohio, Randy V. Haney (Susan) of Warner Robins, Georgia, Rick W. Haney (Tammy) of Summerville South Carolina; two daughters: Melissa J. Klein (Hunter) of Waynesburg, Pa., and Merri E. Chapman of Kannapolis, North Carolina; ten grand children: Sara, Andy, Audrey, Adam, Randi, Garion, Stephen, Carlie, Maddy, and Penny; three great grandchildren: Rachael, Emily, Laney; several nieces and nephews; and his Chihuahua, Maizy.
Deceased are a son, Mark D. Haney; four brothers, Wilbur, Leslie, Harold, and Paul Haney; sister, Hilda H. Brumley.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Sunday, in the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME (724.966.5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa. The Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 8:00 p.m. today in the funeral home with Mr. Clarence “Rusty” Haney officiating.
The Graveside Committal will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Greene County Memorial Park with Military Honors accorded by the Carmichaels Honor Guard and the United States Army.
