David Carl Shaw
David Carl Shaw, 61, of Scenery Hill, Pa., passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 in his home.
He was born July 14, 1956 in Washington, Pa., son of the late Carl Shaw and Elsie (Procasky) Shaw of Marianna, Pa., who survives.
Mr. Shaw was a 1974 graduate of Beth Center High School.
He also earned his Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering.
He had been employed by Bethlehem Mines Corporation’s Mine 58 in Marianna and also by Alpha Natural Resources Emerald Mine in Waynesburg with over 20 years combined service prior to his retirement.
He had previously been employed by Universal Stainless in Bridgeville, Pa., as an Electrician with over 20 years of service.
Mr. Shaw was a member of the United Steel Workers of America Local 9531 and 6813 and the United Mine Workers of America Local 2258.
David enjoyed the Pittsburgh Penguins and NASCAR but most of all was a proud grandfather.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son Chris Shaw (Laura) of Bentleyville, Pa.; a daughter, Amanda Essay (Jamie) of Elizabeth, Pa.; three grandchildren: Cassidy, Alexandria and Christopher Shaw; and nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his father, are his wife, Shirley Shaw who died August 15, 2012; a sister, Marsha Hazen; and a brother, William Shaw.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, Pa., where Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 29, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Kevin Carpenter will officiate.
Interment follows in Scenery Hill, Cemetery.
