Ben Franklin students bused to Uniontown high school after bomb threat

1 min read

Ben Franklin School in Uniontown was evacuated Thursday while police investigated a reported bomb threat that was discovered written on a bathroom stall.

Students were transported to nearby Uniontown Area High School while police secured the building and a K-9 bomb-sniffing unit swept the school, said district Superintendent Dr. Charles Machesky.

Machesky said students who ride a bus will be bused home from the high school. Walkers will be transported back to Ben Franklin and will be able to walk home.

The school will operate on a regular schedule tomorrow.

Machesky said a similar incident occurred last week at Lafayette Elementary-Middle School.

“We will figure out who the perpetrator was just like we did last week at Lafayette so we can put a stop to all this nonsense,” said Machesky.
