A Uniontown man allegedly pointed a gun at a woman and assaulted her when she told him to stop contacting her in a South Union Township parking lot Wednesday afternoon.

Corey Owen Murray, 22, of Bute Road was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and terroristic threats.

The woman, Mercades Martin, told police she had been in a relationship with Murray for a few months, but they broke up. She said she asked him to meet her at Teletech where she works so she could tell him in person to stop contacting her, according to court documents.

They met in the parking lot during her lunch break. Murray allegedly responded by grabbing her by the neck, scratching and biting her face and pulling her hair. He allegedly pointed a handgun at her, saying he would shoot her if she walked away, court paperwork said.

Police said she had scratch marks on her neck.

Murray is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $20,000 bond set by Magisterial District Judge Jennifer Jeffries.

He faces a preliminary hearing at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
