James Fortunato

James Fortunato, “Jimmy”, 71, of Mill Run Pa., passed away Friday March 30, 2018 in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born April 25, 1946 in McKeesport, Pa., son of the late John and Mary (McHill) Fortunato
Following high school, Jimmy attended and graduated from Barber School.
Jimmy was a man of many talents, known for his cooking. He was a Bricklayer when they repaired the streets of Donora, Pa. Jimmy was a talented Barber and worked alongside his best friend Jack Dunlop for many years. The most recent job Jimmy had was owner/bartender of Traveler’s Rest on Route 40 in Markleysburg, Pa., (a job he loved very much).
He will be missed by many friends and family.
Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Carol (Dugas) Fortunato; children: Richard Gmys and wife Janeen, Gina Fortunato, Ronald Gmys and wife Stacy, Christina Fortunato-Keefer and husband Derek, and Kimberly Fortunato; grandchildren: Misty Keefer, Alexx Hamilton, Dylan Keefer, David Gmys, Kenzie Keefer, Mason Keefer, and Ethan Gmys; step-brothers: Billy Marsich and wife Pam, Mike Marsich and wife Debbie, and Timmy Marsich and wife Karen. He will be greatly missed by his faithful companions: Bullet, Zoey, and Kisses.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was predeceased by his step-father, Leonard Marsich; and beloved step-sister, Tina Marsich.
Friends will be received in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, 123 South First Street, West Side, Connellsville, Pa., (724.628.9033), Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m and Wednesday, April 4, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., the time of the Service with Pastor Ron Dugan officiating.
Interment will follow in Normalville Cemetery.
