Daniel L. Chess, CPA, CVA

Daniel L. Chess, CPA, CVA, 65, Uniontown, Pa., passed away after a lengthy illness at home on Saturday, March 31, 2018.
He was born November 18, 1952 in Uniontown, Pa., the son of Raymond N. Chess and Kathryn Marie (French) Chess.
His parents, brother Larry Chess, nephew Paul Chess, and brother -in-law Greg Smalley, preceded him in death.
Dan was a graduate of Fairchance-Georges Class of 1970 and also Penn State University Class of 1974.
He was one of the founding partners of Smith, Lewis, Chess and Company.
Dan was a Board Member of the former Smithfield State Bank, a former member of the Penn State Advisory Board and the Smithfield Rotary Club, and a current member of B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 370 in Uniontown.
He was a member of Saint Therese de Lisieux Parish in Uniontown where he served on the Finance Council and served on the Finance Council of the Greensburg Diocese.
Dan always loved to golf.
Surviving are his loving family: his wife of 45 years Susan (Smalley) Chess; children: Amy Walters and husband Denn of Uniontown, Pa., and Jason Chess of Uniontown, Pa.; three grandchildren: Tristan, Mya and Danny Walters; brothers: Raymond J. Chess and wife Nan of Smithfield, Pa., and Bob Chess and wife Debbie of Smithfield, Pa.; sister- in-law, Linda Chess; brother-in-law, Robert Smalley and wife Dolly; sister-in-law, Becky Smalley; many nieces and nephews; and his loving dog, “Carly”.
The family will greet friends and family in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 until 9:15 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
The Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Therese de Lisieux Parish, 61 Mill Street, Uniontown, Pa.
Entombment will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum at Mount Saint Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
Parish Wake Service in the funeral home on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
