Warrant issued for Fairchance man in hit and run
State police issued an arrest warrant for a Fairchance man who allegedly fled a crash that injured two women in Luzerne Township last week.
Eric Michael Springer, 40, of Kanawha Street was allegedly driving without a license, recently got out of prison and had an active warrant for a parole violation, according to court documents.
One of the injured women, Jade Shriver, was taken to Uniontown Hospital and later transported to another hospital for surgery. Police said she had blood on her head and was in a neck brace when she was interviewed at Uniontown Hospital.
State police were called to 155 Craftmoore Road at 1:30 a.m. March 29, where a silver Chevrolet TrailBlazer was disabled in the yard.
A black metal mailbox and yellow newspaper box were lying next to the vehicle. Police met Felecia Mehal at the scene, who reported she was a passenger in the vehicle and a man named Eric was driving. She was taken to Uniontown Hospital.
A second passenger, Timothy Trump, told police a white, bald male named Eric was driving, and fled as he was trying to aid his injured girlfriend, Shriver, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed in the case.
Police said tire tracks led from the road toward a utility pole.
Both Shriver and Trump told police they weren’t sure how the crash happened.
Mehal told police the driver has an extensive criminal record and possibly a warrant, which was likely why he reportedly fled. She said he “bounces around from house to house” since he got out of prison, according to court documents.
Police said they identified Springer through investigation tools.
He is charged with accidents involving death or personal injury and 14 traffic violations.
Charges were filed Monday before Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr.
His previous cases include DUI, drug charges and fleeing police.
