Janice M. Mihelich Ritsko
Janice M. Ritsko, 64, Smock, Pa., passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 after a courageous six- month battle with cancer.
She was the mother of Edward (Kellie) Ritsko and Heather Ritsko Loughman; partner of the late Regis Weaver; sister of John (Joy) Mihelich, Jacqueline (the late Hugo) Carducci and Robert Mihelich Jr.; grandmother of Ella Grace Ritsko; beloved aunt of six nieces and nephews, four great nephews, one great niece.
Born in 1954 to Robert and Madeline Mihelich, a navy veteran and hospital unit clerk, Janice came from a hardworking family that helped form her own strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. She ran several state-licensed personal care facilities for seniors, and caring for others was at the heart of what Janice was all about.
She loved animals and took in not only dogs and cats, but exotics, birds and farm animals; neighborhood strays knew her porch as a place they would be welcomed with food.
Janice was funny and generous to everyone she knew, always stopping by to visit with candy and the quirkiest gifts.
Her family will always be grateful for the opportunity to celebrate one last birthday with her on March 26. She was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
As per Janice’s wishes, a private memorial and burial will be held.
In her memory, the family suggests a contribution to your favorite animal welfare charity.
