A man was shot in a Redstone Township neighborhood Monday afternoon and flown to a trauma center, police said.

No one had been taken into custody as of 6:20 p.m., according to Redstone Township Police. The man was shot at 20 Steel Street just before 5 p.m.

The victim, who had not been identified, was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia with unspecified injuries. Police said he had not been shot in the head, dispelling rumors quickly circulating among neighbors. A portion of the road was blocked off while police investigated.

Redstone Township Police Department is investigating. Masontown, Uniontown and German Township police assisted at the scene, along with fire and ambulance services.
