Barbara Lee Benedict, 86 of Fairmont, WV, formerly of Point Marion, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018.

She was born July 20, 1931 in Uniontown daughter of the late Richard and Clara (Walsh) Burke. Barbara attended Lourdesmont School in Clarks Summit, Pa. and later returned to Point Marion. On January 12, 1952 she married John A. Benedict in Oakland Maryland. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on July 3, 2005. She enjoyed her role of wife and mother, spending time with her family, telling stories, gardening, and being outdoors. Barbara was known for her artistic talent. She worked several years at Beaumont Glass where she hand painted various glass items. She was a master of seasonal wood crafts and her paintings and murals are found throughout the area. Barbara was a member of Saint Hubert Roman Catholic Church of Point Marion and refurbished the church statues after the 2003 fire. She will be remembered for her kindness, patience, and making the best ice cream soda floats for her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her son, John Benedict, Jr. and wife Joyce of State College, Pa., and daughter, Debra Benedict Zicafoose and husband Michael of Fairmont, WV, her grandchildren, Matt Benedict and wife Cindy of Flemington, NJ and Leah Krull and husband Mark of Hershey, PA and her great-grandsons, Ryan and Daniel Benedict and Grant, Max, and Zachary Krull.

The family would like to thank Cora Fazio and the staff of Fazio’s Elder Care for their caring and support.

Friends will be received in Saint Hubert Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, April 12 from 9am until 10am when a Mass of Christian Burial will be held. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Barbara Benedict to the Marion County Humane Society, P.O. Box 905, Fairmont, WV 26554 or Centre County Paws, 1401 Trout Rd. State College, PA 16801 or Humane Society of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of the LOUIS E. RUDOLPH FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion.
