Paula Marie Matey Szalay
Paula Marie (Matey) Szalay, 66, of California, Pa., died peacefully on Sunday, April 8, 2018.
She was born on Monday, March 24, 1952, in Brownsville, Pa., a daughter of Paul and Eva (Starinsky) Matey
She was a member of Saint Katharine Drexel Parish, formerly Saint Thomas Aquinas.
Paula was an Administrative Assistant for Centerville Clinics.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Szalay (1983); and one brother, Paul Matey (2009).
Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Christopher Szalay and wife Joanna of Canonsburg, Pa., and Benjamin Szalay and wife Dawn of Ruffsdale, Pa.; three brothers and three sisters: Michael Matey of Cleveland, Ohio Joyce Prohaska and husband Jim, Lakewood, Ohio, Kathleen Sungala and husband Daryl of Port Charlotte, Florida, Gary and Michele Matey of Greensburg,Pa., Roger Matey of Bradford, Pa., and Jennifer Boggs and husband Tim of Carrolton, Virginia; four grandchildren: Mia Szalay, David Szalay, Talon Schoedel, Lilla Szalay; nephews and nieces Gregory Prohaska and wife Gina, Melanie Prohaska and husband Chris Miller, Gabriella Matey, Garrett Matey, Gavin Matey, and Gage Matey; great niece and great nephew: Breanna Prohaska and Gregory Prohaska.
Friends will be received in the MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME, INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, Pa., today 1 to 7 p.m. and on Thursday, April 12, until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Katharine Drexel Parish, California Campus (formerly Saint Thomas Aquinas) with Father Jeremy J. Mohler as the Celebrant.
Interment is private.
