By The 1 min read

A 28-year-old man was killed in an all-terrain vehicle crash in Springfield Township early Sunday after hitting a deer, state police said.

Police said driver Paul C. Cole of Mill Run was driving north on Route 381 (Mill Run Road) in a 2018 Polaris RZR when he hit a deer near the entrance to Yogi Bear Campground at about 3:20 a.m., causing the ATV to flip. Cole, who police said was not wearing a seat belt or other restraints, was thrown from the vehicle. Police said he was pronounced dead on the scene by Fayette County deputy coroners.

State police were assisted on the scene by Springfield Township Volunteer Hose Co., Fayette EMS and Urosek Towing Service.

Cole was a machine operator for Beegly Tree Service in Somerset, according to his obituary. He enjoyed playing pool and spending time with his nieces and nephews. Cole was originally from Uniontown.
