Lois Jean Pujia Lembo, R.N., 87, of Connellsville, Pa., died peacefully on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown, Pa.

She was born August 27, 1930 in Connellsville, Pa., daughter of the late James A. and Irene (Ganier) Pujia.

She graduated from Connellsville High School with the Class of 1948 and from the Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh with the Class of 1952.

After graduation, she accepted a position on the nursing staff at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida. Returning to Connellsville in 1954, she later joined the nursing staff at Connellsville State Hospital (now Highlands Hospital) where she served as the Director of Patient Services, a department that she founded and developed. She then served on the nursing staff at Greensburg State Correctional Institute before retiring in 1991.

In 1996, she came out of retirement to serve as an assistant at ECHO Child Development Center in Connellsville, retiring again in 1999.

She was a lifelong member of Saint Rita of Cascia Roman Catholic Church in Connellsville and its Confraternity of Christian Mothers and also a member of Ladies Lodge of the Order of Sons and Daughters of Italy in America.

Lois had a personality that would immediately liven up a room. She loved traveling, enjoying a glass of wine with family and friends, and spending time with her beloved dachshunds, Shotzi and Schnitzel.

Though she was very proud of her career achievements, her proudest accomplishment was her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, James J. Lembo and wife Gina of Connellsville and her daughter, Renanne Hess and husband Robert of Mount Pleasant, Pa.; five grand children: Chad Lembo and wife Brenda, and Anthony Lembo and Nicole Lembo all of Connellsville, Erin Hess of Washington, D.C., and Joshua Hess and wife Bethany of Moon Township, Pa.; great grandchildren: Austin Lembo, Cooper Lembo and Parker Lembo all of Connellsville; the father of her children, Angelo E. “Tony” Lembo of Connellsville; and many cousins and friends.

Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC., 418 North Pittsburgh Street, Connellsville, Pa., today from 2 to 8 p.m. with the Christian Mothers holding the Parish Wake Service at 3:00 p.m. and The Sons and Daughters of Italy holding a Memorial Ritual immediately after the Wake. Additional visitation will be held Thursday, April 19, from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be held.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Rita of Cascia Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Father Robert T. Lubic as Celebrant.
