Hershell Dwain Morgan, 80 years old, passed away on April 23, 2018 peacefully with his loving family by his side.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Donna Rae Gower.

He leaves behind his sons and spouses: Richard and Nancy Morgan of Lancaster Massachusetts, David “Ben” Morgan and Gina Anspach of Louisville Kentucky, Donald and Dorothy Morgan of Bossier City, Louisiana; daughters and spouses: Roxann and David Burgwinkel of Columbus Mississippi and Alyce and Carl Newlin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; grand children Joseph Morgan, Ericka Morgan, Meghan Pierce, David “Andy” Burgwinkel, Catrina Harmon, Kristy Rigdon, Bobby Toler, Katie Spinosa, Elizabeth Newlin, Sarah Morgan; and nine great grand children. He leaves his sister Yvonne Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers Kenneth and Richard, sister Eileen Bowman, and great granddaughter Lily Burgwinkel.

He also leaves his faithful companion Gypsy and many loving members from the Gower family.

He was born May 4, 1937 in Revloc, Pa., to the late Reverend John Kenneth Morgan and Gladys Irene (Zeigler).

Hershell married the love of his life, Donna Rae Morgan, on June 23rd, 1957, and began his successful career in Retail Management with the Brown Show Company. After 44 years working as a Retail Manager, he ultimately retired from Dillard’s Department Store.

A true competitor, he loved to play and watch sports and was happiest spending time with his family. He was a great conversationalist who loved to joke and have a good laugh. He always had a nice word to say and a pleasant smile on his face. His calm manor and wit will be missed by his family and all that knew him.

For many years he enjoyed bowling on the Smithfield Baptist Church League, winning many championships, and as a Youth Baseball Coach he helped mold young boys into aspiring young men.

Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR FUNERAL HOME, Seven River Ave., Masontown, Pa., Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday until 10:00 a.m., the hour of Service in Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Rodney Thomas will officiate.

Interment will follow in Jacobs Lutheran Cemetery, Masontown, Pa.
