Police: Gilmore man shot dog during domestic argument
A Gilmore Township man was arrested for allegedly shooting a dog dead in its crate during a domestic argument at his home.
Mark Allen Miller Sr., 56, of 161 Crabapple Valley Road is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals – causing death, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case, Waynesburg state police interviewed Nicole Spencer at their home Tuesday afternoon, who reportedly said Miller punched her in the face during an argument at about 6 p.m. Sunday. He allegedly went to his vehicle and returned with a shotgun, then shot her dog in the head while it was in its crate in the bathroom with Spencer. The dog was a white and brown pit bull mix.
Police said Spencer had a cut on her lip. She reportedly showed them a picture of the dog dead in the crate.
Miller was arraigned Wednesday afternoon before Magisterial District Judge Curt Balint, who set bail at $10,000. Miller was released from Greene County Prison, Thursday, after a cash bond was posted on his behalf.
