Charles D. Davis, “Chuck” “Pap”, 90, (born June 26, 1927), of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts and formerly of Simsbury, Connecticut and St. Simons Island, Georgia, beloved husband of the late Lorraine (McGovern) Davis, passed away peacefully, with family by his side, Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

Chuck was born and raised in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to the late Clarence and Evelyn (Peck) Davis.

He attended the University of Alabama after receiving a four year football scholarship where he played half-back for the Crimson Tide.

In his junior year he was drafted into the Army during World War II, working overseas as an Intelligence Decoder.

He returned to “The University” after the war and received a Bachelor of Science in 1950 in Commerce and Business Administration. In addition to playing football, Chuck ran for and was President of the Track Team at Alabama and was a proud member and President of the “A Club.”

After marrying Lorraine, his college sweetheart, he was employed by General Electric for 35 years where he was a District Sales Manager for New England.

After retiring from GE, Chuck joined Lorraine at Merrill Lynch Realty in Simsbury, where they worked together before moving to their beloved coastal community in St. Simons Island, Georgia. In St. Simons they were inseparable, enjoying an active retirement playing tennis, fishing, golf, and walking on the beach. They participated in many social activities with the “Coasters” and Newcomers.

Chuck and Lorraine were married for 57 years. He and Lorraine enjoyed raising their five children together. He was a family man in the truest sense, caring, empathetic and has left a wonderful legacy. He will forever be remembered for his kind heartedness towards everybody, sense of humor and enthusiasm for life.

He leaves one son, Mark Davis; four daughters, Tracy Blumberg and husband John, Alison Riley and husband John, Kristen Rainey and fianc* John, Laura Yamaguchi and husband Keith; as well as his brother, Jack E. Davis. He also leaves nine grandchildren: Dean Blumberg and wife Sara, Kyle Blumberg and wife Melissa, Jordan Blumberg and wife Chloe, Brendan Riley and wife Marcie, Taylor Riley and wife Jillian, Connor Riley, Paige Rainey and partner Josh, Benjamin Yamaguchi, and Nathan Yamaguchi. He loved his eleven great grand children: Lola, Josie, Hudson, Finley, Cooper, Sullivan, Gianni, Charley Kennedy, Easton, Cash; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, Lorraine, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Lindsay.

Chuck’s family thanks all of the staff at The Reserve at East Longmeadow as well as Melissa and Vi of Caretenders for their care and love.

A private service for his family will be held at the CARMON FUNERAL HOME & FAMILY CENTER, 301 Country Club Road, Avon, CT 06001 (860.673.8610) followed by burial at Simsbury Cemetery.
