Walter Michael Machesky "Lefty"

Walter Michael “Lefty” Machesky, age 90, of Perryopolis, Pa., passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 in Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown, Pa., with his loving family by his side.

He was born on June 4, 1928 in Searights, Fayette County, Pa., son of late Joseph Machesky and Bertha (Bozek) Machesky.

Walter served his country in the United States Air Force.

He was a retired steel worker from United States Steel’s Christy Park Works.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and took much pride in maintaining his home and automobile.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Rose A. (Morgan) Machesky; three daughters Donna Hudock and her husband Michael of Uniontown, Pa., Darlene Vargo Morrison and her husband Joseph of Perryopolis, Pa., and Roseann Harger of Vanderbilt, Pa.; grand children, whom he dearly loved: Michael Vargo of Perryopolis, Pa., Martin Harger Jr. and his wife Amy of Perryopolis, Pa., Mike Hudock of Uniontown, Pa., Andi-Jo Vargo of Indiana, Pa., Amber Lynn Harger of Lansing, Michigan, Holly Eicher and husband Sean of Uniontown, Pa., and Seth Vargo and his wife Kimmy of Perryopolis, Pa.; great grandchildren whom he adored: Alyssa Bella, Sage Harger, Walter Bella, Chloe Harger, Ryker Maglione, Presley Vargo; sister, Louise Petish and her husband John of Grafton, Ohio; brother-in-law, Harmon Morgan of Connellsville, Pa; several nieces and nephews.

Walter’s family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 6, 2018 in the BLAIR- LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa., where Prayers of Transfer will be said at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis, Pa., with Monsignor Roger A. Statnick as Celebrant.

Walter’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown Hospital and Amedysis Hospice of Uniontown.
