Rudy B. Martina
Rudy B. Martina of Fairchance, Pa., passed away Monday, August 6, 2018 in the Mount Saint Macrina Rehabilitation Center, Uniontown, Pa.
He was born in Coal Center, Pa., son of Rudolph E. Martina and Brigida Martina, both deceased.
Also preceding him in death was a brother, James Martina.
Rudy lived a full life. He possessed a charisma and an awesome wit.
He had alluring blue eyes and his charm would light up any room he entered. He loved spending time with his family and he enjoyed Polkas and playing bingo.
He was an avid golfer and sportsman and at one time had an opportunity to try out for a career playing baseball for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Rudy was retired from J & L Coal and Steel Company.
He graduated from East Pike High School and attended California State Teachers College.
He was a United States Army Korean War Veteran and member of General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood, Pa., the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7219 and American Legion Post 278 both of Fairchance, Pa.
He was a Life Member of the Hutchinson Sportsman’s Club.
He was a member of Ss. Cyril & Methodius Roman Catholic Church, Fairchance.
Rudy is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Mary Louise (Lucia) Martina; his daughter, Deborah Jo Frazee; granddaughter, Bethany Jo Frazee; sister, Dolores Huffman; brother, Mario Martina. He will be dearly missed by his family and his beloved pets, “Buddy” and “Darlinkie”.
Family and friends will be received in SHELL FUNERAL HOME INC., 164 South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today, August 9, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m
Family and friends may gather at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Roman Catholic Church in Fairchance, on Friday, August 10, at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with Father Gade Show Reddy as the Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa where Military Rites and Honors accorded by the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood, Pa.
Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary in the funeral home today at 4:00 p.m.
