By The 1 min read

A West Newton man was charged Saturday in a July crash in South Huntingdon that injured a woman, requiring her right arm to be amputated.

Jamie Lee Converso, 35, was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance and speeding when he crashed on Fitz Henry Road at about 12:30 a.m. July 3. State police issued a warrant for his arrest.

Deanna Marie Lynn of Latrobe told police she begged and pleaded for Converso to stop and pull over, but he ignored her. She became entrapped in the vehicle and ultimately lost her arm, police said.

Converso is charged with aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI and three counts of DUI. Charges were filed before Magisterial District Judge Charles M. Christner.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call state police.
