Charges have been filed against a Marianna man for allegedly making threats to his neighbors and shooting a gun at their homes.

Robert Mitchell Murphy, 44, was charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied structure, terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person before on-call Washington County Magisterial District Judge David Mark on Sunday.

The charges stem from an incident along Hedge Avenue at approximately 8:49 p.m. Saturday, when state police responded to a report of a verbal argument that escalated to a gun being fired.

Nicole Renea Jackowski reportedly told police that when she arrived home, Murphy walked on to her property and threatened to harm her and her father.

He also allegedly told Jackowski to tell the police to come and get him because he would harm them, too.

Fearing for the safety of her father, Jackowski called her father, who’s also her neighbor, police said.

Another neighbor, Paul Joseph Crowe, reportedly told police that Murphy also threatened him.

Paulette Bernard was on the phone with Jackowski when she heard Murphy threatening Jackowski and Crowe, police said. Barnard said she was getting out of a vehicle and heard gunshots and heard one ricochet off a home, according to court paperwork.

Police found two .410 caliber rounds near an ally southwest of Hedge Avenue.

Murphy was read his rights and admitted to shooting the firearm in front of the residence, police said, noting that they found a .410 caliber gun at his home.

Murphy is lodged in the Washington County Prison with bail set at $50,000.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Curtis Thompson at 11 a.m. Sept. 12.
