Eugene Painley “Geno”
Eugene “Geno” Painley of Hopwood, Pa passed away peacefully Monday, August 20, 2018 with his wife and special friends by his side.
He was born February 22, 1947 in Uniontown, Pa son of the late George and Mary Tajc Painley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother George, a brother in law Felix Spagnola and his beloved son Matthew.
Geno was a star athlete in his youth and graduated from North Union High School in 1965. He retired from Maple Creek Mine and was an avid golfer for many years. He loved sports and was an avid Steeler fan.
Geno was a member of the UMWA, Catholic War Veterans, American Legion, Lemont Sportsman’s Club and the Polish Club. He was loved by so many for his good humor, positive attitude and love of life.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years Jean Ofsanik Paull Painley, a sister Dolores “Dee” Spagnola, a brother Regis and wife Vera, daughters Sarah, Amanda and Abigail and 3 granddaughters.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD, Pa Friday August 31, 2018 from 1 to 2 pm the hour of the memorial service with Pastor Ed Horvat officiating.
Mrs. Painley would like to thank he nursing staff at Mon Health System and Dr. Darrell Saunders for the wonderful care through the years.
