Sarah Ellen (Collins) Sabick
Sarah Ellen (Collins) Sabick, age 95, of Buffington, PA passed peacefully at home on January 30, 2018, with her family at her side.
She was born in Dearth, PA on February 6, 1922, to the late John W. and Minerva (Mumaw) Collins.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Loyal Daughters Class of New Salem, PA and a member of the New Salem American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 753. Former member of St. Francis of Assisi – Footedale.
She loved polka and listening to Molly B. Was an avid sports fan and cheered for the Steelers and Pirates. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning house and baking.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace L. Sabick; brothers, Henry, Jack, Kenneth, Charles, Robert “Mo”, and Leonard; sisters, Betty McGrath, Shirley Gaydos and Margaret McCauley.
She is survived by her daughter Charlotte Lynn Sabick and fiance John McNair; sister, Connie Collins; brother, Dave Collins and wife Cora; nieces, Paula Komperda and her son John at home; good friend, Theresa McNair; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, PA on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. The New Salem American Legion Auxiliary will hold a service on Thursday at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held on Friday in the First Christian Church of New Salem, 800 New Salem Road, Uniontown, PA from 10:00 until 11:00 AM the hour of the service with Rev. Andy Miles and Rev. Rufus Peer officiating. Entombment to follow in LaFayette Memorial Park.
