State police said a man who was arrested for attempted theft in Fayette County over the weekend told them he was actor Matthew McConaughey.

Police said they were called to a Georges Township home on Saddle Brook Drive early Saturday, when the homeowner reported someone rang his doorbell around 5:50 a.m., and then started walking around the home.

When troopers arrived, they said that they found the man, later identified as 46-year-old Troy A. Miller, inside the homeowner’s vehicle. When police took Miller into custody, he reportedly told authorities he was McConaughey.

They were later able to positively identify Miller, who does not have a known address.

He was charged with attempted theft from a motor vehicle, false identification to law enforcement and loitering and prowling at night.

He was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Jennifer Jeffries, who set his bond at $500, and was committed to the Fayette County Prison.
