Elmo “Mo” Anthony Maust, age 83, Hopwood Pa., passed away on Thursday evening, February 15, 2018 in the Uniontown Hospital with his wife at his side.

He was the son of the late Charles V. and Christina A. (Petrone) Maust.

He was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, Pa., where he was a former Eucharistic Minister, Usher, and a Sacristan.

He was a member of The Knights of Columbus 1275 in Uniontown, Pa., and also a Fourth Degree member Assembly No. 926 in Uniontown, Pa.

He was member of The Catholic War Veterans and also AMVETS Post 103 both in Hopwood, Pa.

He served his country well as a veteran of the United States Navy for eight years and the Marine Corps Reserves for four years.

He retired from Anchor Hocking in South Connellsville, Pa.

Elmo graduated from Uniontown Senior High School, Class of 1953.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Paul “Sonny” Maust and Charles L. Maust Jr.; his two brothers-in-law, John Mattia and Zeb Sparks; and his niece, Carmel Mattia Veno.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Talpas) Maust; his twin brother, James Maust and his wife Reba; his sisters: Mary Jo Mattia of Uniontown, Pa., and Anna Margaret Sparks of Chalk Hill, Pa.; a special Godchild, Kristi Jo Belin of Utah; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the BAKER- TERRAVECCHIA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, PA 15401 today2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m and Saturday, February 24, 2018 until 9:00 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, Pa., with Rev. Father James D. Tringhese as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Saint Mary (Nativity) Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa

The Catholic War Veterans will hold a Service in Funeral Home Chapel today at 7:00 p.m.
