Elaine B. Zembar Bess
Elaine B. Zembar Bess, age 74, of Bourbonnais, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Presence St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee.
She was born February 3, 1943 in Monessen, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Charles and Mary Zembar.
Elaine married Vernon L. Bess on June 21, 1972 in Kankakee, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2002.
Elaine worked for Travel Lite Transfer in Bradley and also Dan’s Forklift in Kankakee.
Elaine enjoyed country line dancing and was a member of the Kankakee Kickers.
She bowled on a league for many years and loved playing Mahjong with her friends.
Elaine currently attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Kankakee and for many years had attended St. John United Church of Christ in Kankakee.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law: Kathleen Lyons of Peotone, Illinois and VernaLee “Sissi” and Tom Lehning of Momence, Illinois; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Tara Bess of Momence, Illinois; seven grandchildren: Jeremy Bess, Christopher Gore, Maeghan Roberson, Austin Roberson, Alexis Lehning, Trinity Lyons, and Jackson Lehning; and two cousins: Rosemary Zembar and Peter Zembar both of Pennsylvania.
In addition to her husband, Vernon L. Bess, she was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles Zembar.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, January 7, at CLANCY- GERNON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Main Street NW, Bourbonnais, IL 60914 (815.932.1214). A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018 also at the funeral home. Rev. Phillip Gardner will officiate the service.
Cremation Rites will be accorded following the services.
