‘Net MAGIC’ free basketball camp to be offered to area youths
WAYNESBURG, PA – Youths between the ages of 6 and 16 are encouraged to sign up for a free basketball camp titled “Net MAGIC.”
The camp will be held July 9, 13, 16 and 20 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center of the First Assembly of God – Eastview, located at 4131 W. Roy Furman Highway in Waynesburg.
The objective of the basketball camp is to increase self-esteem, parent/child interactions and each child’s basketball skill level. At all camp sessions, there will be various educational activities, games and the teaching of basketball basic fundamentals, as well as information provided by various agencies.
The skill-building camp – which coordinators are calling “instructional, informative and fun” – is sponsored by the Family Success Community Team of the MAGIC Collaborative Board and is supported by the Greene County Commissioners.
“This camp has been offered for many years here, and the Commissioners are happy to support such a positive initiative,” said Greene County Commissioner Blair Zimmerman. “We encourage all youths ages 6 to 16 to take advantage of this free camp, where they will not only learn more fundamentals about basketball but also valuable lessons for life.”
This project is a collaborative effort with support from community agencies such as: Greene County Human Services, Beacon Health Options, Centerville Clinic, SPHS Care Center STTARS Program and other community agencies.
The MAGIC collaborative is comprised of a steering committee and community teams. The purpose of the collaborative is to create an integrated, coordinated community/family based service delivery system to meet the health, education and community needs of Greene County residents.
